About

Made by one person, in Norway.

Midground is a WordPress theme and visual builder for websites that move. It is made by Pelle Nilsen, a solo developer in Norway – every demo, guide and story on this website was built in the same editor you can open in your browser.

Who makes Midground

Pelle Nilsen is a developer in Norway and builds Midground alone: the theme, the visual builder, the demo sites, the guides and the stories on this website.

Stories like How deep is a Norwegian fjord? are researched from primary sources – Store norske leksikon, Norway’s research institutes and peer-reviewed papers – with every figure checked on a stated date and every source listed. The guides say which version of Midground and WordPress they were tested with.

Why Midground exists

Pinned scenes, parallax, text that comes into focus and 3D that turns as you scroll usually mean custom code, or a stack of add-ons that each do one thing. Midground puts them in one editor, and takes care of the parts that are easy to forget: phones, visitors who ask for less motion, keyboards and screen readers, and page speed.

It is honest software: the demos show only what Midground does, the guides say what it doesn’t do yet, and the AI assistant runs on your own API key.
